DEAR EVERYONE

Dear Everyone

Your silence is deafening. Your indifference is palpable. Your neutrality is frightening. Your hypocrisy is abhorrent.

This is not a complicated issue. This is not being hidden from you. I no longer accept ignorance as a valid excuse.

In an issue so heinous, so immoral, so one-sided, silence is undoubtedly complicity.

If you have ever questioned how you would react throughout history in times of injustice, simply look at your actions and behaviour during the current massacre of Palestinian people.

Whether it be slavery in the 1800s or apartheid in South Africa, your reaction to the current genocide in Gaza is indicative of how you would have reacted to these events.

The same people ostensibly taking a stand against colonialism with the Vote YES campaign, are the same people staying silent when active colonialism is taking place in Palestine right now. Best believe, you would have been complicit in the Australia settler colonialism project during the 1800s.

The fact that a country has convinced some of you that they are in fact the victims, whilst simultaneously illegally occupying and shamelessly ethnically cleansing an entire people is terrifying.

Your reaction is a reflection of your principles and character.

And I am not sorry if that is jarring for some of you. Do better.
